GONAbreed® (ANADA 200-541) is a sterile injectable solution containing 100 micrograms of gonadorelin (GnRH) as gonadorelin acetate per milliliter, suitable for intramuscular or intravenous administration.
Indications for Use:
- Reproductive Synchronization: GONAbreed® is indicated for use with cloprostenol sodium to synchronize estrous cycles, allowing for fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) in lactating dairy cows and beef cows. This synchronization facilitates precise breeding schedules, enhancing reproductive efficiency.
- Treatment of Ovarian Follicular Cysts : GONAbreed® is indicated for the treatment of ovarian follicular cysts in dairy cattle. Ovarian cysts are non-ovulated follicles with incomplete luteinization, which can result in nymphomania or irregular estrus. GONAbreed® initiates the release of endogenous luteinizing hormone (LH) to cause ovulation and luteinization, addressing this condition effectively.
Product Highlights:
- Concentration: Each mL contains 100 mcg of gonadorelin (as gonadorelin acetate), providing a higher concentration compared to other GnRH products.
- Dosage: A single 1 mL dose per cow reduces injection volume, enhancing ease of administration.
- Packaging: Available in 20 mL vials (20 doses)
- Storage: Unopened vials should be refrigerated at 2° – 8°C . Once broached, the product may be stored at temperatures up to 25°C and should be discarded 180 days after first use.
Safety Information:
- Withdrawal Periods: No withdrawal period or milk discard time is required when used according to labeling.
- Precautions: GONAbreed® is not intended for human use and should be kept out of reach of children. Always read, understand, and follow the label and use directions.
Pharmacology:
Gonadorelin is gonadorelin acetate which is the hypothalamic releasing factor responsible for the release of gonadotropins (e.g., luteinizing hormone [LH], follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH]) from the anterior pituitary.
Synthetic gonadorelin is physiologically and chemically identical to the endogenous bovine hypothalamic releasing factor, ensuring its effectiveness in managing reproductive health in cattle.
Dosage and Administration:
- Cystic Ovaries: Administer 100 mcg of gonadorelin acetate (1 mL) per cow via intravenous or intramuscular injection.
- Reproductive Synchronization: Administer 100 mcg of gonadorelin acetate (1 mL) per cow intramuscularly, following a specific reproductive synchrony program.
